The Elf Explorer

A magical Christmas experience that is guaranteed to light up your children’s faces and get the whole family in the mood for the Festive Season. This theatrical journey on board a beautiful steam train is the perfect way to travel, and we know that Father Christmas thinks so too…!

The Beginning

Your adventure starts with a journey through our Victorian Christmas Street, with plenty of festive joy inside the windows. Our elf will check you in and check if you’ve been naughty or nice! You must check in to collect your golden tickets to travel on the Elf Explorer. Please ensure that you give the age of the present you have booked when age stickers are given out.

Children can write a letter to Santa and complete other activities whilst parents may wish to visit ‘Rudolph’s refreshments’, visit our fully stocked bar for a Christmas tipple, or collect pre-booked drinks to take on the train. Please note that this year there isn’t an onboard bar and any drinks must be purchased beforehand and taken on board.

The Entertainment Starts Here!

Before boarding the train, a new feature to this year’s Elf Explorer is a 20-minute Elf show that will take place on stage in the Exhibition Hall!

This is the beginning of the story for the ELf Explorer, so please ensure you have plenty of time for this! This is a theatrical and interactive performance with amplified music and lighting. Once the show is complete, it’s time to follow the Elves to the platform to board the train and find your seats – Please make sure you mind the gap and help your children onto the train – we don’t want any accidents!

the main event

Once you’ve boarded the train you’ll be welcomed aboard and the train journey will commence.

Over the next hour you’ll be treated to the rest of our Elf Explorer story played out by our amazing singing and dancing elves as well as juice and chocolate coins for the kids, Mulled Wine and mince pies for the adults plus a visit from Father Christmas for every family. Each child will receive an age-appropriate gift. Please make sure you have your best singing voices at the ready and watch out for anyone trying to spoil Christmas!!!

back to Oxenhope

After just over an hour of festive fun the train will return to Oxenhope and it will be time to disembark.

Upon returning, you can visit the Gift Shop at the station, you can travel on the diesel train afterwards or catch the free bus. If you have parked in the car park at Oxenhope, you will need to leave before your allotted time, so that the next customers can park.

We recommend a visit to Haworth Village whilst you’re in the area as this is really magical at Christmas time, with the famous cobbled Main Street being the highlight!
